Recently I’ve contemplated on the idea of having a mentor. I’ve never naturally been drawn to have one but most of the successful people I know on TV and in real-life have had mentors. One study showed that entrepreneurs who have mentors end up raising about seven times more capitol for their businesses, and experience a growth rate that is at least 3.5 times faster than those without them.
Many of the highest-profile achievers in history had mentors. Socrates mentored young Plato, who in turn mentored Aristotle. Aristotle mentored a boy named Alexander, who went on to conquer the known world as Alexander the Great.
I’ve started to arrange more regular calls with other smart and successful people who know more than I do, as we’re often more blind to our own faults than those around us.
Put yourself out there, mentorship isn’t a one-way street
. Don’t expect to get Richard Branson on your first try, start small and be willing to offer them something in return. If you don’t already have one, start looking for one
as the data is in, you’re more likely to be successful by having smarter and more experienced people to help guide you.
Cheers to a great week ahead! 😎
