MindHack Digest: All Good Things Must Come To An End.

Hello and Goodbye,
Never say of anything, “I have lost it”; but, “I have returned it.” Is your child dead? It is returned. Is your wife dead? She is returned. Is your estate taken away? Well, and is not that likewise returned? “But he who took it away is a bad man.” What difference is it to you who the giver assigns to take it back? While he gives it to you to possess, take care of it; but don’t view it as your own, just as travelers view a hotel. (Epictetus - Enchiridion 11)
This one’s tough for a lot of people. It goes against much of what we are taught from birth about holding on tightly to those we love. But, to the Stoics, such attachments were plainly to, and subject to, things outside our control. You can, and even should, love the good people in your life, but you always must be prepared to carry on without them.
It can be just as hard to let go of our attachments to our things and creations. We must know when to let go though, when to muster the courage to do what we feel we must, and with that, this 100th edition will be my last weekly newsletter.
In all honesty, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a while. After two years, the newsletter became a cornerstone routine that gave me a sense of comfort and the replies gave me a sense of self-worth. Even the people I’d run in to on the street who I’d never met before, tell me they loved my newsletter.
However, by holding on to this comfort, it has become stagnant, if only to myself. I never intended for this to become a story-based newsletter, but I was afraid to innovate from the familiar and stopped writing content on my website.
Two years ago, this started out with a challenge with myself to only send out ten newsletters, and yet it became a routine I stuck with religiously. It has taught me things about myself I didn’t know, and it led to many incredible conversations with all of you that I will forever appreciate and take to heart.
With every closed door though, lies another one to be opened. I intend to renew my focus on long-form content and higher quality podcast episodes with greater intent, purpose, and potential to have an impact to a much wider audience
So alas, this is just as much a Hello as it is a Goodbye. You can look forward to still receiving emails from me in the future whenever I publish a new blog post or podcast episode. Thank you for sticking with this until the end. I genuinely appreciate the amazing and encouraging responses I’ve received week after week. I have some exciting things planned for the future that I look forward to sharing with all of you. It is my goal to create things that will help you live a happier and more fulfilled life.
Namaste 🙏
